On the assumption you have come here because you want to find out a little about me and what I have written, here goes:

After more than 30 years in journalism – newspapers, magazines, and latterly as a freelance of all sorts – I stumbled into my first book commission. It came about during a chance phone conversation on an entirely unrelated matter with Roni Jay, of White Ladder Press.

She had been incubating the idea for a particular book for some time while searching for the right author. Happily for me, we hit it off during that first conversation and soon we were exchanging emails and talking business. I signed the contract, excited at the prospect of writing a book at last, flattered by White Ladder’s faith in me, and seduced by the Green & Black’s chocolate that White Ladder pop into all their envelopes to keep their authors sweet.

Against a tide of other work, including editing a monthly lifestyle magazine, I managed to complete What Shall We Do With Mother? What To Do When Your Elderly Parent Is Dependent On You a month ahead of deadline and it was published by White Ladder Press in May 2006. Extracts Reviews

Fortunately, the void in my life was soon to be filled by another White Ladder commission: this time for a book on how to earn money in the post-retirement years, due for publication in the autumn of 2007.

There’ll be no chance for my computer to draw breath after that manuscript is delivered, because White Ladder have commissioned me to do a third title, about how to put your life back on track after a divorce. That book is due to be published in the spring of 2008. Hopefully, this third book will stop me being typecast as a writer on ‘silver threads’ subjects.
